Marx and Foucault

Crude Marxism says “there is the base and the superstructure, and there is nothing else.” In this view, Peter Jennings gets up in the morning and asks his boss “what’s the spin today”? But don’t you think Mr. Jennings has any personal integrity? If you worked with him you would realize that he does. It’s “both, and”: there are human beings, and there is power. There is love, and there is the need for critique.  Perhaps Foucault gives us a nuanced framework with which to proceed.
